Is Nikon teasing the launch of a new entry-level Nikon Z5 camera?

Nikon is teasting the launch of a more “popular” Nikon Z model. Let’s call this the Z5 that might can compete with the $1299 Canon ESO RP. Makes sense…

Highly reliable sources told me Tamron will soon announce these two new F-mount lenses:
35-150 f/2.8-4 VC USD
SP 35mm f/1.4 USD designed to be the best 35 ever.
They are both compatible with the Nikon Z cameras straight from the start (of course with adapter).

Within the next couple of days Nikon will announce this new 24-70mm f/2.8 S lens. Stay tuned for more!

We just got whispers about a new Nikon press event around mid February. I don’t think we will get a new Z camera. I think it’s more likely we will finally get the new 58mm f/0,95 Z lens!

Nokishita spotted four new camera registration on a Russian agency page. The codes are N1845, N1847, N1849 and N1850 which tells us nothing about what those models are. Don’t think those are new Z cameras…

Nikon released this new updated Nikon Z lens roadmap. And it contains quite some changes compared to the original Photokina roadmap:
1) First we now know that these lenses will come in 2020:
2) The 24mm f/1.8 will be released in 2019 instead of the previous estimated 2020 release
3) In 2020 we will get additional four TBA (to be announced) lensees instead of the previous three
4) In 2021 we will get 7 lenses instead of the previous 8

Thanks Mistral!

So the rumors we posted as first were true: Nikon is likely to launch the new 58mm f/0,95 in January. Nikon USA just updated the page and now says the lens is “coming soon”.
