It’s clear that with this video Nikon is teasing the launch of fast lenses! At the end of the video they show a lens but it’s totally uncertain if that’s the 58mm f/0,95 lens or not. I guess it’s just a rendering…

Tony and Chelsea Northrup do think Olympus, Panasonic and Pentax are now in big trouble. Also, they believe Sony will still have a competetivie advanatge in the short-mid term. But I guess Nikon and Canon fellowship will not agree with their analysis 🙂

The image on top shows the Nikon patented optical desing of the 52mm f/0.9 lens (Source: Hi-Lows-Note). It’s very likely the 58mm f/0,95 will have nearly the same design. This is a highly complex design and for sure it’s going to be a very BIG and expensive lens. But still…very exciting and unique! The currently fastest autofocus lens is the Canon 50mm f/1.2.

Nikon will have another press conference on September 25. it might be that they will NOT announce a new product but rather share more details about their new Nikon Z system.

There is a new rumor listing the possible new Nikon gear:
On August 23 Nikon will announce this:
Nikon Z6: high speed, low light model (24MP)
Nikon Z7: high-resolution model (45MP)
Z-Nikkor 24-70mm f/4
Z-Nikkor 50mm f/1.8
Z-Nikkor 35mm f/1.8
A couple of months later Nikon will releases this:
Z-Noct-Nikkor 58mm f/0.95
Particularly the Nikkor 58mm f/0,95 lens will have a great wow factor necessary for Nikon to create big attention on the system The big question is…what will be the price of it?

Bloomberg reports how Nikon and Canon dominancy is threatened by Sony’s new mirrorless camera. For Blooberg analysts the only way for Canon and Nikon to stop Sony is to launch their own mirorrless Full Frame cameras:
Nikon is working on its first full-frame mirrorless camera, with more details of the device due to be announced on Aug. 23.
Canon hasn’t disclosed any concrete plans; they’re “within the scope of development,” a company spokesman said. “The hurdle for Sony is still high,” said Tomonori Igari, an editor at Asahi Camera. “It depends on how much they commit to creating a support structure, and also on Nikon and Canon’s mirrorless strategy.”
